Getting control of energy consumption in commercial buildings is vital for both energy and cost savings. Yet, identifying and addressing energy thieves can be challenging.

The hidden culprits range from outdoor heaters that are left on in the middle of June, to inefficient ventilation and heating systems - often competing against each other. What they all have in common is that they often remain undetected.

🔎 Learn more about energy efficiency.

Not knowing is expensive

Many businesses and property owners aim to reduce their energy consumption and carbon footprint. However, without understanding your consumption, your efforts are based on gut feelings and best guesses.

To truly understand energy consumption and identify errors and inefficiencies, reliable energy data is key.

The common recommendations in regards of energy efficiency are also the most expensive, like improving insulation or replacing windows and technical equipment.

Most companies can improve their energy consumption with way more cost efficient measures.

Identifying the most efficient measures

In an old building in Oslo, the owners spent several million NOK replacing all technical equipment. This reduced the yearly energy consumption from 11 GWh to 7.

As they still felt there was more to gain, they invested in new energy meters. By using the insight from the data and adjusting operation accordingly, they managed to reduce their consumption even further, to 3.5 GWh. Note that this last reduction did not require any new technical investments.

There are several more examples like this. The point is: Structural changes and investment don't always resolve energy inefficiencies.

Energy data provide the answers

When you know where and when energy is consumed in a building, you also know where you should start to make improvements and where you have the most to gain from new investments.

We help you collect the data you need to make smarter decisions.
