Just because a meter is counting doesn’t mean the data is accurate. That's why we have to audit and verify that equipment functions correctly and measures what's intended.
We always perform verification for new installations, and also offer it as a service to eliminate errors or anomalies in existing setup.
What we check
For retrofit installations, we can verify the entire setup. We analyze the data to ensure everything makes logical sense, including:
- Meter hierarchy and parent-child relationships: Making sure the relationship between meters is correctly structured.
- Correct Units: Ensuring meters report in the right units (e.g., kilowatts instead of megawatts).
- Phase alignment: Verifying that meters are correctly connected to the right phase.
- Logical consistency: Identifying correlations between different sensors to confirm data is both logical and consistent.
We have developed custom analytics tools to streamline these processes and continuously refine our algorithms and models for even greater accuracy.
When integrating to existing meters and infrastructure, our ability to control every part of the setup is more limited. However, we analyse patterns and inconsistencies to detect and explain potential errors.
How we fix errors and discrepancies
Software adjustments: Some errors can be corrected remotely, without physical access to the building, simply by adjusting equipment configurations. In some cases, we are able to reconstruct missing data.
On-site inspections: When necessary, we visit the building physically to inspect and adjust the setup directly.
Verification is the foundation of accurate energy data – and accurate data leads to better decisions, higher efficiency and smarter energy use.
